Heartwood Artists are a Scottish-based group who have been holding site specific events since 2009, exhibiting both by themselves and at times with invited artists.
The early events curated by the group all took place within the expansive location of the Monkquell woodlands in Blairgowrie, with one further event in 2012 in the Georgian stable buildings of Cambo Estate in Fife. From 2014 Heartwood’s four core artists, Fanny Lam Christie, Kyra Clegg, Su Grierson and Martine Foltier Pugh, have continued to exhibit together firstly at the Macrobert Arts Centre at Stirling University in 2015 and at the historic Hopetoun House in Edinburgh in 2017.

In light of the Covid Pandemic restrictions of 2020 which put an indefinite hold on our planned exhibition for 2019/20, we decided to utilise the ‘work from home’ circumstances with a personal challenge of creating new artists’ books. These works will become the Heartwood project of 2021.
